These three memorials in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia always stick out to me because they are things I remember not from a history book, but from watching them on the news. They are memorials to the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster from 1986, the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster from 2003 and the Iran Rescue Mission of 1979. They stand in a prominent place in the cemetery between The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the USS Maine Memorial.

wow, never knew those were in there. Great picture!
Arlington Cemetery has so many hidden treasures. These ones I’ve seen before, but there’s always something new to discover.
Arlington National Cemetery truly honours all the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for mankind.
